State Duma deputy Kastyukevich said that he gave up his mandate in order to work in the Kherson region

State Duma deputy from the United Russia party Igor Kastyukevich said that he decided to resign as a parliamentarian and go to work in the Legislative Assembly of the Kherson region. Mr. Kastyukevich was elected to the Kherson parliament on the United Russia list, in which he occupied second place.

“Today I cannot do otherwise. Residents of the Kherson region entrusted me and the heads of state with their interests. Continue to work in a region with a large economy. And I can’t let them down. I resign as a State Duma deputy and remain working in the Kherson region. We are doing everything to make the residents of the region feel part of a large and independent country,” wrote Igor Kastyukevich in his official Telegram channel. He did not specify what position he would take in the Kherson parliament. According to the Telegram channel BriefMr. Kastyukevich is considered as a candidate for the post of chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Kherson region, but “the final decision has not yet been made.”

The parliamentarian also promised to continue the projects he started in the Voronezh region, from which he was elected to the State Duma in 2021. Currently, Mr. Kastyukevich is the secretary of the regional branch of United Russia in the Kherson region.

On Igor Kastyukevich’s decision to resign as a State Duma deputy became known September 15th. His application to surrender his mandate has already been officially approved by the State Duma commission on issues of monitoring the reliability of information on income, property and property-related obligations, as follows from the draft resolutions on the website of the lower house of parliament. The State Duma will consider the issue of removing the powers of the parliamentarian on September 19. In addition to him, the secretary of the Khakassian branch of United Russia, ex-candidate for the post of head of Khakassia, Sergei Sokol, also decided to resign his parliamentary mandate; the State Duma will also consider his application for resignation on September 19.
