The Ambassador of Belarus to the Russian Federation announced the confiscation of the country’s property worth $1 billion by Kiev

Ukrainian authorities illegally confiscated Belarusian property worth $1 billion, said the republic’s ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoy.

“With the beginning of the SVO, Ukraine switched to outright escalation: Belarusian property worth $1 billion was illegally confiscated,” – leads his words to RIA Novosti.

Kyiv also terminated more than 60 international bilateral treaties and imposed sanctions against Belarusian citizens and businesses, the ambassador noted. Minsk supports Moscow’s position in the conflict in Ukraine, Krutoy added.

Earlier in August, the Ukrainian government appreciated $1.9 billion is the total amount of Russian and Belarusian assets seized in Ukraine, which were transferred to the management of the National Agency for Identification, Search and Asset Management. In particular, noted Minister Oleg Nemchinov, the Demurinsky mining and processing plant, the assets of three banks and businessman Oleg Deripaska, as well as vehicles, aircraft, 3,500 residential and 4,000 non-residential real estate were arrested or confiscated.

According to him, a number of assets are transferred to the army and security forces, the other part to the State Property Fund. Biofuels and ammonia, for example, are put up for auction. The funds received as a result of the auction are invested in bonds, Nemchinov added, through which military expenses are financed.

On March 10, 2022, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a law on the forced seizure of property of Russia and its residents. In accordance with the provisions of the law, the forced seizure of Russian property will be carried out without any compensation for its value.
