State Duma Deputy Elena Yampolskaya asked to check the poetess Vera Polozkova for justifying terrorism

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Culture Elena Yampolskaya turned to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov with a request to check the statements of the poetess Vera Polozkova in order to justify terrorism (Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The reason was the comment of the poetess in connection with the attempt on the life of the writer Zakhar Prilepin.

Elena Yampolskaya published a copy of the appeal in her Telegram channel. She called Vera Polozkova’s comment cynical, absolutely unacceptable and immoral. In her post, she said that one of the deputies asked her “what will the appeal give” if the poetess left the country. “If a criminal case is initiated, we will not see Mrs. Polozkova in Russia. The bonus is nice, agree,” wrote Elena Yampolskaya.

In an interview that aired on Dozhd (the TV channel was recognized as a foreign agent) on June 19, presenter Mikhail Kozyrev (recognized as a foreign agent) asked Vera Polozkova if she drank champagne after Zakhar Prilepin’s car was blown up in early May. The journalist referred to the poet’s Twitter post from 2017, in which she promised to drink champagne the day Prilepin was shot in the head.

“Maximum beer,” Vera Polozkova joked, and then explained that she did not feel joy or gloating about what had happened. “I feel terrible. In fact, I don’t wish death on anyone, ”she said.

Vera Polozkova publicly criticized the start of a special military operation, and in March 2022 she left Russia. In December 2022, the head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, said that lawyers were checking the statements of Vera Polozkova in an interview with Yuri Dud (recognized as a foreign agent) in order to discredit the Russian army. During the conversation, she spoke critically about the actions of Russian forces in the Donbass.
