In 2023, a major overhaul of the Stalinist skyscraper located on Sadovaya-Spasskaya Street will take place in Moscow.
The historic building will be renovated as part of a major housing renovation program. Now the specialists of the Capital Repair Fund of Moscow are developing an individual project, which will take into account all the nuances, design and decorative features of this unusual residential building.
“House located at: st. Sadovaya-Spasskaya, 21/1, is a landmark facility of the FKR of Moscow in 2023. The most important task facing the specialists of the FCR of Moscow is to preserve the completely historical appearance of the building, ”the press service of the Capital Repair Fund of Moscow reported.
A whole range of works is planned to restore the facade of the building. The first step is to clean and rinse the surfaces of dirt, then local replacement of the cladding and work to preserve the decorative elements will be performed. In the end, hydrophobization will be carried out on open facade areas.
As part of a major overhaul in a residential high-rise, a number of engineering systems are to be replaced.
“There are seven skyscrapers in Moscow. The people called these buildings “seven sisters”. The high-rise building at the Red Gates began to be erected in 1947. Alexey Dushkin and Boris Mezentsev became the main architects of the project. The house was commissioned in 1953. The building has several volumes: a central tower of 24 floors and two 10-15-story side wings. The Ministry of Transport Construction of the USSR was located in the central part, the remaining areas were given over to residential apartments. The house was provided with a kindergarten and an underground garage. In the right wing of the building is the exit from the Krasnye Vorota metro station. President of the Academy of Sciences Mstislav Keldysh, famous actors: Natalya Gundareva, Boris Chirkov, Vyacheslav Tikhonov lived in this house,” the FCR said.
