SRZP proposed issuing residence permits to people who are persecuted for supporting Russia

Introduced to the State Duma bill on the issuance of residence permits (residence permits) to foreigners who have been subject to criminal prosecution due to Russian support. Its initiators were ten deputies from the party “A Just Russia – For Truth” (SRZP).
“In order to support and protect the all-Russian cultural identity … it is necessary to expand the circle of persons who have the right to obtain a residence permit on the territory of the Russian Federation without the need to obtain a temporary residence permit, so that foreign citizens who express support for the policies of the Russian Federation in their words or actions … also enjoy support Russian Federation,” says the explanatory note to the bill.
The document states that at the beginning of 2022, 140 cases were initiated in Germany, most of which were related to the use of symbols of a military operation on the territory of Ukraine. In the Czech Republic, 384 criminal cases were opened “due to support for Russian policies”, in Latvia – more than 40.
The authors of the bill also propose to develop a system of interdepartmental interaction to protect such foreigners. The main task of communication is to promptly learn about the persecution of citizens of other countries and provide them with a residence permit or any other assistance, the document states.
Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday signed a decree that simplifies the admission of Russian citizenship to residents of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Moldova. To obtain Russian citizenship, Belarusians will need to provide the appropriate application, residence permit and passport. Citizens of Kazakhstan and Moldova are also required to provide proof of Russian language proficiency.
