The Polish District Court of Lublin found 14 citizens of the Russian Federation, Belarus and Ukraine guilty of spying for Russia. The local portal Onet reported this on Tuesday, December 19.
16 people were to stand trial, all of whom pleaded guilty to espionage and agreed to be punished for it without a trial. However, then two withdrew the relevant statements – they are awaiting trial.
Those convicted were sentenced to imprisonment for terms ranging from one year and a month to six years. Along with this, they will have to pay fines.
Before this, it became known that a Russian citizen living in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz was expelled from the country due to suspicions of working for Russian intelligence services.
In July it was reported that Poland had liquidated alleged “Russian spy network”, which allegedly planned to organize bombings of trains carrying weapons and humanitarian aid for Ukraine. It was noted that the “agents” received tasks “remotely directly from Moscow,” and after completing the tasks they were paid rewards in cryptocurrencies.
