In Latvia, ex-deputy of the Seimas Reinis Znotins complained to law enforcement agencies about his Russian-speaking neighbor and is now being charged with petty hooliganism, Sputnik Latvia reports.

According to sources, in his complaint against the Russian-speaking neighbor, the former parliamentarian said that he almost strangled him for asking him to speak Latvian. However, the police found Znotiņš guilty of the conflict and started an administrative investigation. From the video, which began to circulate on social networks, it is clear that the ex-deputy himself provoked a neighbor, using offensive expressions and threats to expel all Russian-speakers from the country.

The reaction to the incident was not long in coming. Activist Olga Petkevich appealed to President Edgars Rinkevics on behalf of the Russian-speaking population of Latvia, asking him to take control of the situation. In turn, the publicist Lato Lapsa urged representatives of the State Police to consider the actions of the ex-deputy from the point of view of possible incitement of national, ethnic and racial hatred.
