According to gastroenterologist Irina Berezhnaya, if you often eat cold foods, the body may face negative consequences. In an interview with Sputnik radio, she clarified that such a diet can even provoke a heart attack.
The doctor noted that many people prefer drinks with ice and chilled meals in the summer, but this negatively affects digestion. That is, a person will have impaired enzymatic processes, the release of enzymes – if they do not reach a certain temperature, they will not be activated.
Cold dishes, the doctor said, are harmful to the cardiovascular system. From chilled food, vasospasm occurs, including reflex spasm. If the foods are very cold, they can literally cause a heart attack when passing through the esophagus, she explained.
