The end of March – beginning of April will be marked by spring ice drift in the center of European Russia, as scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand told the TASS agency.
“According to forecasts, spring ice drift in the Moscow region is expected in late March – early April,” he emphasized, noting that the opening of the Oka will occur in the first ten days of April in accordance with the norm.
The second ten days of March will be characterized by the opening of the Lower Volga, Upper and Lower Don, as well as the Khoper River 4-7 days earlier than usual. The Volga above Tver is expected to open 10 days earlier than standard time.
