Durov: Potential investors value Telegram at $30 billion
The co-founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov said in an interview with the Financial Times that his project is valued by potential investors at more than $30 billion.
According to him, this price for Telegram is based on global technology funds. Durov did not talk about the timing and platform for the placement of shares, but the Financial Times thinks that the messenger will move towards listing in the United States.
Durov also said that he is not going to sell Telegram. “Overall, we see value in the IPO as a means of democratizing access to value in Telegram,” Durov said.
He emphasized that he plans to sell part of the shares to his regular users. The newspaper drew an analogy with the Reddit platform, which announced the allocation of part of the shares to retail investors before the IPO.
