The large-scale discharge of purified water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant did not increase the level of tritium in Russian territorial waters. This was stated at the WEF by the special representative of the President of Russia on environmental issues, ecology and transport, Sergei Ivanov.

According to him, there are no signs of an increase in tritium in Russian territorial waters. Theoretically, there are concerns, but there are no practical ones yet.

Recall that Japan has completed the discharge of the first batch of purified water from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. About 7.8 thousand tons of liquid entered the ocean. By the end of September, the energy company TEPCO will begin the second stage.
