Tikhonov reportedly had to undergo surgery due to an injury he received in one of the veterans’ matches.

Tikhonov reported that he was feeling well and gave an approximate recovery time of about 1 month.

“Not that an unpleasant injury is an injury to an ordinary athlete. There is nothing wrong,” he said.

Andrei Tikhonov gained fame thanks to his performance for the Moscow “Spartak” in the period from 1992 to 2000. As part of the Spartak team, he became an eight-time champion of Russia and a two-time winner of the Russian Cup. For the Moscow club, he scored 90 goals in 265 matches. For the Russian national team, he played 29 matches and scored one goal.
