Soyuzmultfilm asked the Investigative Committee to check the rights of a US company to Cheburashka

The Soyuzmultfilm film studio turned to the Russian investigative authorities to verify the legality of the contracts concluded with the American company LyaRubin, which relate to international rights to the Cheburashka brand.
The company emphasized that this is not the first trial on the Russian market with the participation of this company. “LyaRubin” has already tried to prove the facts of ownership of the rights to Leopold the Cat and Little Raccoon.
A corresponding investigation has already been launched against the Cheburashka brand, Soyuzmultfilm said.
The new film about Cheburashka was released in early 2023 and stayed there for many months, and then began its victorious march on streaming. The family film became the highest-grossing film in the entire history of Russian cinema.
Previously, the Arbitration Court of the Ryazan Region recovered compensation from an individual entrepreneur for illegal use of Cheburashka’s image in the manufacture of thermal applications. The plaintiff was Soyuzmultfilm.
