“Steel Foxes” from Magnitogorsk and “Polar Bears” from Chelyabinsk played the first playoff matches of the MHL championship. The games were held as part of the 1/8 Kharlamov Cup in the East. At the Magnitogorsk youth team, the Ufa Tolpar became a rival in the first round, and at the Chelyabinsk team – Mammoths of Yugra.
“Steel Foxes” started the series at the home site in Magnitogorsk. The first confrontation with Tolpar was marked by five goals scored, and the winner of the team was revealed only in overtime. In Magnitogorsk, only Innokenty Rybin scored with goals, making a double in the match, but this was not enough to win. In extra time, “Foxes” earned a removal, and “Tolpar” implemented it. The result of the first match – 2:3. Already today, March 12, the teams will meet again on the ice of the Magnitogorsk arena.
The Polar Bears played their match in Khanty-Mansiysk. And here, too, the victory was not on the side of the South Urals. And the teams also played to overtime.
At the Polar Bears, goals were scored by Dmitry Kandakov, Yaroslav Yapparov and Yegor Gorbunov. However, in extra time, the Chelyabinsk team lost. The result is 3:4. The second meeting of the teams will also take place on March 12.
