Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened the Southern River Station after reconstruction. Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov said that the first cruise ship would arrive at the station on May 5.

The current station building was built in 1985. In the 2000s, a fair for children’s goods and a car market worked on the territory of the station. In 2021, it was decided to reconstruct the station building and improve the embankment next to it.
