The Japanese company Sony is going to release the PlayStation 5 Pro at the end of 2024. About it informs well-known insider Tom Henderson, citing sources within the company. This is a new model with new hardware, not a PS5 with a detachable drive, which is scheduled for release in late 2023.
Specifications for the new PlayStation 5 Pro are yet to be revealed, but a recently published patent by PS5 architect Mark Cerny outlines new ways to increase console performance when ray tracing is enabled. Tom Henderson previously reported that Sony getting ready release a new PlayStation 5 with a removable drive in September 2023 – this model will replace the current versions with and without a drive. Perhaps Sony will introduce new consoles at an online presentation in June. By February 2023, Sony had sold over 32 million PS5 consoles.
