The Japanese company Sony is developing a new portable console that could be released in two years. About it reports Moore’s Law Is Dead insider citing sources in the company.

According to an insider, Sony may take this step to retain customers in Japan, who are buying fewer and fewer home consoles and more and more portable Nintendo Switch. The company also assessed the success of Steam Deck in attracting users to Steam. The portable console, tentatively titled PlayStation Portable 3 (PSP3), will be able to run games from home consoles, eliminating the need to develop games specifically for it. There will be full compatibility with PS4, and games with PS5 will be launched using special patches. PSP3 may also be part of the PS6 family. Sony may already be paying AMD to develop a chip for new consoles.

Previously Sony released portable device PlayStation Portal – it is designed for streaming games from PS5. At the time of release, PlayStation Portal did not support streaming from the cloud, however, according to media reports, this may change in the future.
