The Sociology of Power journal, published at the RANEPA on the basis of the Institute of Social Sciences (ION), has removed the 2018 issue of Sexual Anxiety: Anxious Intimacy Machinery from its website. Sociologist Yevgeny Shtornykh, who edited the remote issue, drew attention to this.
As Mr. Stern explained, the issue collected articles on feminist initiatives, homosexuality, hate-motivated killing of non-heterosexuals and other topics, the public coverage of which could be interpreted as a violation of the recently adopted law on LGBT propaganda.
“I am terribly ashamed precisely in front of the authors because their excellent articles were blacked out,” the sociologist wrote on his Facebook (owned by the recognized extremist and banned Meta). As “Kommersant” was convinced, archive magazine for 2018 is indeed missing one of the issues.
Sociology of Power is one of the most authoritative Russian academic publications on politics and sociology. Following the adoption of the LGBT propaganda ban law on November 24, 2022, a number of publishers and magazines were forced to stop publishing materials that could be interpreted as violating the law. Formerly the philosophical journal “Logos” withdrew a scientific article by the British publicist Lewis Reyna under “The Lesbian Look and the Fashion Areas”.
On the consequences of the law on LGBT propaganda – in the material “Kommersant” “Propaganda requires clarity”.
