Social Security agents are not affected by the revaluation of the index point for civil servants decided in July, but they should soon have an increase. The four ministers in charge of Social Security have indeed asked, this Friday, its various funds (health, retirement, family) to open negotiations to revalue the index point of their 150,000 employees.
Olivier Dussopt (Work) François Braun (Health), Jean-Christophe Combe (Solidarities) and Gabriel Attal (Budget) want “a revaluation of the same magnitude as that of the public service”. As a reminder, the index point of civil servants increased by 3.5% in July.
According to the government, it is a question of “continuing to preserve the purchasing power of Social Security employees in an unprecedented context of inflation (5.8% over one year in August). This follows a revaluation, this year, of the “30,000 lowest paid employees” of the Social Security funds and “an exceptional profit-sharing of 200 euros” for all agents.
A goal set in the fall
In an interview with the “Parisian” , the Minister for Solidarity, Jean-Christophe Combe, has set the objective that the negotiations should be completed “as quickly as possible, in the fall”. The executive thus responds to a demand from the CFDT, whose secretary general Lawrence Berger pointed out in an interview with the “World” Tuesday that his union was “in action” in several “moving sectors”, in the first place “Social Security agents (who) are demanding a revaluation of the index point”.
As Social Security reminds us on its site, the organizations of the general scheme – CAF, CPAM, Urssaf, etc. – are under private law. Also, their employees are not civil servants. It is the Social Security organizations that are the employers.
