Sochi residents took second place at the Russian Wheelchair Curling Championship

The Russian Wheelchair Curling Championship has ended in Sochi. Mixed pairs competed at the Iceberg Ice Arena in the Olympic Park. How reports Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Sochi, local athletes became prize-winners of the competition. In total, three couples from Sochi competed at the tournament.

Andrei Smirnoy and Tatyana Starkova won the silver medal, losing only to a couple from the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Andrei Smirnov also received the award “For Sportsmanship”. The winner was chosen by voting.

– Wheelchair curling is a modern sport that many people with disabilities can do. This is also a huge contribution to the social adaptation of Sochi residents with limited mobility,” noted Alexander Mitnikov, head of the social policy department of the Sochi administration.
