Sobyanin: the plan for the rehabilitation of Losiny Island will be agreed with experts and residents of nearby areas

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his blog on his personal website told on plans for the rehabilitation of the Losiny Ostrov National Park. The mayor recalled that a few days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that allows the Moscow part of the Losiny Ostrov National Park to be transferred to the management of the city authorities.

The Mayor introduced the plans for the rehabilitation of the largest green area in Moscow. “No construction is planned,” Sobyanin immediately dismissed, calling such information that Moscow would allegedly “take away, build up everything with housing” as speculation.

They are different national parks, Sobyanin also noted. “Care for him [Лосиным островом] should be different,” he is sure, since “the semantic load is in many ways different.”

The mayor of the capital said that after the signing of the law on the transfer to the authorities of the capital of powers to use part of the Losiny Ostrov national park within the boundaries of Moscow, the city authorities are also waiting for the issuance of an act from the Russian government. After receiving it, “all together with experts and specialists” we will see how it can be rehabilitated, the mayor said.

He shared the top-priority plans that need to be implemented in the first place – “we need to free him from garbage”, especially the territories adjacent to residential buildings. “Make protected areas,” Sobyanin added, noting also the importance of creating zones on the territory of the park for “more active visits by citizens.”
