“Skopinsky maniac” Mokhov was released from custody in the case of concealing the murder

The regional court of the Ryazan region released Viktor Mokhov, known as the “Skopin maniac”, from custody. He was imprisoned in a pre-trial detention center on a case of concealing a murder (part 2 of article 316 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He previously served a 16-year sentence for violence against minors.

“By decision of the Ryazan Regional Court, Mokhov was released from custody. This is due to the fact that the deadline for detention under the article under which the defendant is charged is over,” the press service of the investigative department of the ICR for the Ryazan region told TASS.

The case was opened in August 2022. On August 2, a murder took place near Mokhov’s house. According to investigators, he helped the killer move the body to the courtyard of an abandoned house. Later, the “Skopin maniac” himself confessed in that. On August 12, he was placed under house arrest, but he violated the conditions of detention, using the Internet and inviting guests. Viktor Mokhov has been in the pre-trial detention center since September 1.

In 2000 Viktor Mokhov kidnapped two girls aged 14 and 17 in Ryazan. They were in the basement of an outbuilding near his house for almost four years. During this time, Mokhov repeatedly raped girls. One of them gave birth to children from him. In 2005, Mokhov was sentenced to 16 years and ten months in prison for crimes against sexual freedom and the sexual inviolability of minors.

Viktor Mokhov was released from the colony on March 3, 2021, he was placed under supervision for six years. He is obliged to report to the police, he is forbidden to attend mass events, leave the house at night and leave the district without permission.
