Ski lifts demolished in French Alps because there is no snow left

About a hundred people gathered in the small French Alpine village of Saint-Firmin to say goodbye to their lift as a group of workers worked to dismantle it late last month.
Cause? It has not been used for years because there was no more snow.
“Global warming has happened and that’s what changed our opinion of this place,” Didier Bozon, 63, a Saint Firmin resident and elected official serving the village, told CNN.
The ski slope was built in 1964.
It once received regular winter snowfalls, but the situation has worsened in recent decades. This situation is observed in other French and European ski resorts. The climate crisis has led to shorter ski seasons and reduced mountain snow and ice cover.
“The last time he worked was about 15 years ago and for just one weekend. It has not been used since then,” Bozon said of the ski lift in his village.
