SKA head coach Roman Rotenberg said that the decision regarding figure skater Kamila Valieva was politicized, Match.TV reported. However, he believes that there is no need to dramatize the situation, because the athlete will cope with disqualification.

She has a little over a year left until her disqualification expires, so Valieva must continue to work. Rotenberg did not rule out that in the future the skater will be able to perform at the SKA Arena.

As MK in St. Petersburg reported, on January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified Valieva for violating anti-doping rules for a period of four years from the date of taking the doping sample on December 25, 2021.

Thus, Valieva will be stripped of all medals from this date. These include gold won in the team tournament of the 2022 Olympic Games and at the European Championships of the same year. Moreover, the gold in the team tournament will be given to American skaters. In the Russian Olympic Committee named the decision to disqualify the figure skater was “a war declared on Russian sports.”
