“Volcanic dust covered my entire lungs”

Participant in the seventh season of the project “The Voice. Reboot” Sasha Kruglova suffered from a volcanic eruption in Kamchatka. She shared the details with MK.

As the artist said, at first nothing foreshadowed such an outcome. Kruglova was simply traveling around Kamchatka as part of a working visit, enjoying the local attractions.

“We had little time, the trip was a work trip, but thanks to the help of the regional government, we managed to see all the most interesting things – volcanoes, the ocean. Such beauty! I was also amazed by the live seals and sea lions. The sea lion is the largest representative of the eared seal family, which is also called the northern sea lion. For the first time I saw them not in a picture, but at arm’s length. In general, I was amazed by what I saw and realized how cool this place is to relax – the cleanest cities, the freshest fish and caviar. I will definitely return more than once – both with concerts and on vacation,” the singer told MK.

At some point, the desire to get to know Kamchatka better led to disastrous consequences. As you know, Kamchatka is a land of volcanoes. There are about 300 of them here. And 29 of them are active. Some erupt once a year, and some once every thousand years, but are still considered active. These volcanoes form part of the Pacific Ring of Fire.

“At my request, we drove too close to the volcanoes, as a result I swallowed volcanic dust, which seemed to clog all my lungs,” recalls Sasha. – For a long time I could not get rid of coughing and wheezing, and for an artist this is a tragedy. Immediately upon arrival in Moscow I had to go to the doctor.”

The doctor told the famous patient that if large dust gets into the respiratory tract, it settles on the mucous membrane, irritates the receptors of the mucous membrane and causes protective-adaptive reactions: increased work of the mucociliary apparatus and increased mucus production. All this leads to the person starting to sneeze or cough.

“But they calmed me down. It turned out that volcanic dust is less dangerous than cigarette smoke,” the star explained.

In the near future, Kruglova will still have to undergo a course of drug treatment. Doctors give a positive prognosis, but advise you to continue to listen to the guide and not stay away from active volcanoes.
