Singaporean chip maker Silicon Box will build factories in Italy – Kommersant

Today, the Italian Ministry of Enterprise and Investment and the Singaporean chip manufacturer Silicon Box signed an agreement under which the Asian company will invest €3.2 billion ($3.5 billion) in the construction of a plant in northern Italy.
It is expected that the project will create about 1.6 thousand new jobs, and the operating turnover of the enterprise will be about €4 billion. The exact location of construction has not yet been determined – negotiations are currently underway between Silicon Box and the Italian government.
The Singapore-based company was founded only about three years ago, but its latest funding round in January valued it at $1 billion. It is reported that the Italian company Silicon Box will produce chiplets – integrated circuits with a clearly defined set of tasks and capabilities designed to combine with other chiplets to perform more complex tasks. According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, chiplets are one of the most advanced technologies of our time.
