This was stated by Prime Minister Lee Xian Lu, reports France 24. When exactly the amendments to the criminal law will be made, the prime minister did not specify.
According to the current legislation of the state, sexual intercourse between men is punishable by imprisonment for up to 2 years. This law has been in effect since Singapore gained independence from the British Empire in 1965. At the same time, the law does not provide for liability for sex between women. It is also noted that this law has never been applied in the judicial practice of Singapore.
