Since February 2022, savings have decreased for a quarter of Russian men

According to research by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), after the start of the military operation in Ukraine and the imposition of sanctions against Russia, the number of savings decreased in 21% of Russians. 5% of respondents reported an improvement in well-being. The most significant changes in the financial situation occurred in men. Among them, 26% experienced a decrease in savings. In women, this figure was at the level of 17%. An increase in savings was reported by 7% of men and 3% of women.
From data survey VTsIOM, conducted as part of a joint project with RBC, since February 2022, 39% of Russian citizens have not recorded changes in the amount of accumulated funds, 34% of respondents had no savings either before the crisis, or at the present time.
According to VTsIOM data, the savings of citizens aged 25–34 turned out to be the most susceptible to external factors. Among this age group, the accumulated amounts decreased in 34% of people. Least of all changes affected Russians over 60 years old, only 12% of them recorded a decrease in savings.
Earlier, sociologists from the Public Opinion Foundation published a survey, according to which 69% of Russian citizens are anxious after the announcement of partial mobilization in the country. 29% of Russians reported that they have been dissatisfied with the actions of the authorities lately.
