Shoigu announced an increase in financing of the state defense order by 1.5 times

Financing of the state defense order will increase by 1.5 times next year, which will provide the armed forces with equipment and equipment by 97%, informed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during a meeting of the board of the military department.

“Next year, taking into account the additional allocated budgetary funds, the volume of financing of the state defense order will increase by almost 1.5 times. This will make it possible to provide formations and military units with constant readiness with weapons and equipment at the level of 97%,” he said.

Shoigu also drew attention to the fact that this year the implementation of existing and new state contracts was optimized, they were advanced in full. In addition, on the basis of the national defense control center, control over the supply of especially demanded weapons was organized. According to him, these measures will ensure the implementation of the state defense order at a level of at least 99%.

The head of the Ministry of Defense pointed to the need to establish advanced deliveries to the troops and maintain the current production volume.

Earlier, Vedomosti, with reference to the “Main Directions of the Budget, Tax and Customs Tariff Policy for 2023–2025.” wrotethat spending on national defense in 2023 will amount to almost 5 trillion rubles. For comparison, in 2022, 4.679 trillion rubles were allocated for these purposes, which is 1.2 trillion rubles. more than was approved for this year – according to the law on the federal budget for the current three-year period, it was planned to spend 3.5 trillion rubles.

As Vasily Kashin, Director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, explained, more than half of the funding under the item “national defense” falls on the state defense order, and the rest is the cost of the activities of the troops, the monetary allowance of military personnel, exercises, military capital construction, and so on, added expert.

On October 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, instructed to create a Coordinating Council to meet the needs of the special operation. The tasks of the new structure are the supply and repair of weapons, military equipment, as well as providing the army with material resources and medical and sanitary services.
