Shenderyuk-Zhidkov: Lithuania will introduce a rain tax due to defense spending

Senator from Kaliningrad Alexander Shenderyuk-Zhidkov said that Lithuania is introducing a tax on rain. He clarified that the country was driven to this point by unsustainable spending on defense and support for Ukraine.
“Lithuania introduces a rain tax for the sake of new German tank battalions. The country’s authorities currently do not know where to look for additional resources and are forced to introduce similar taxes,” noted Shenderyuk-Zhidkov.
According to him, next year the planned budget deficit of Lithuania will be 2.9% of GDP. This was led to by colossal support from Ukraine, a doubling of defense spending and restrictions on Kaliningrad transit.
Let us remind you that from January next year a law will come into force in Lithuania, according to which some persons living in the country will have to pay for rainwater. This law was approved by the Seimas.
