The words of the Israeli authorities about the possible use of nuclear weapons in the Gaza Strip raise the question of whether Israel has such weapons. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on the air of “Soloviev Live”.

On November 5, Amichai Eliyahu, Minister of Jerusalem and Jewish Heritage, admitted dropping a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip during an interview on Kol Berama radio, calling it “one of the possibilities.” The minister later clarified that his words were a metaphor. On the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspended Eliyahu from participating in cabinet meetings and emphasized that the country adheres to international law.

At the US State Department considered Eliyahu’s words are “absolutely unacceptable” and called on all parties to refrain from statements that could lead to an escalation of the situation. The minister’s statement was also condemned by several countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Syria and Qatar. At the Iranian Foreign Ministry called The UN Security Council takes measures to disarm Israel.
