“Kommersant” figured out some of the details of the sensational survey of the Federal Agency for National Affairs (FADN) on the attitude of migrants to Russian legislation. Let us recall that in September the agency stated that a significant proportion of citizens of Central Asian countries in Russia do not want to comply with local legislation and prefer Sharia norms. Kommersant asked FADN to provide the exact wording of the questions and showed them to outside experts. The head of the migration and ethnicity research group at RANEPA, Evgeny Varshaver, believes that FADN violated “important methodological rules” of sociological research and that the agency’s questions were formulated incorrectly. However, the former deputy head of the Federal Migration Service, Vyacheslav Postavnin, is confident that the FADN survey confirms the trend toward radicalization and Shariatization among migrants.
