He said that annoying fans bombard him with their intimate pictures and videos every day. “We’re so fed up that there are simply no words,” Zverev is looking for a way to get rid of the constant mailing of nudes, he tried to talk to fans about such messages, but they don’t listen to him.

– This summer you celebrated your 60th birthday… How do you look at your age?

– I don’t worry at all. Imagine, I found Khrushchev. If my nerves didn’t bother me, I would look younger. The fact is that in the fashion world there is no age. There are no such frameworks. For example, in politics, age is very important: do you have a future or are you just a beginner? Everything there has its own gradations. But this is not the case in the fashion world. And the older you are, the more expensive it is. Your name is more valuable because you have more experience and knowledge. And your work is more expensive.

– How much is your time worth? How much does it cost to invite Zverev to a party?

– It’s priceless. I need to be looked after for two years, and then I’ll change my mind.

– How did you feel about the departure of the fashion masters – Vyacheslav Zaitsev and Valentin Yudashkin?

– No one will ever replace the glory of Zaitsev and Valentin Yudashkin. They cannot be faked by the hands of Chinese craftsmen. Nowadays it is not enough to read information about fashion in translations. Slava knew how to cut and sew himself, but he could also talk about fashion beautifully.

– It seems that they were replaced by your former colleague Vlad Lisovets, has he already called himself a style icon?

– (Prolonged laughter). What our stylists do: they have learned the text, they can tell it somehow, but they can’t do it with their hands.

– So we don’t have stylists now?

– Eat. Lots of talkers, few doers. In our profession they say there are no ugly women. No, there are ugly women, there are a lot of them, but our profession is such that we have to make them beautiful. How can you do this if you are not from this profession, where you have to sew and cut, work with a team. The head cannot exist separately from the body. There must be a complete image.

– Okay, try to evaluate Putin’s image.

– Vladimir Vladimirovich looks decent. I’ve never seen excesses or things on it that piss me off. Everything is serious within the framework of what a president should look like. If the president himself chooses his suits, then he has impeccable taste.

– And the image of Pugacheva… By the way, don’t you miss her?

– I don’t have much time to be bored. She hasn’t cared about me for 10 years now – she married a young husband and had children. In my opinion, in Russia they know more about her than Pugacheva about herself. When I hear how she is talked about in the press, I feel unpleasant.

– How do you feel about relocant emigrants?

– No – it’s their choice. There are my fans in every country in the world; I am known both in the world of fashion and in the world of music. And everyone has been laughing at me for a long time, colleagues from Europe ask me “what are you doing there, you have no work, no filming, no broadcasts – there is nothing, what are you holding on to there?” And I believe that love for the homeland is not calculated by the number of rotations and tours, nor by the amount of money earned. I feel sorry for those who measure it in money: I will live where they pay more, but I will crap on my country – this is not my position.

– What do you regret?

“I didn’t put one person in his place, and now he’s already abroad and I can’t get him. Everything must be done on time.

– Is it possible to be relevant at all times, to set trends?

– It’s possible for me. I wore jackets and trousers with sequins and rhinestones when there was no Dolce Dolce & Gabbana and other companies. And later they began to repeat me. I wore crowns and robes for about 20 years, and no one in the world wore them except me. However, Alla Verber (fashion director of TSUM, vice-president of a famous jewelry company) filmed me at my events, took screenshots and sent them to her designer friends in Europe. Later I see in the Dolce & Gabbana collections my mantle, my crown and my jackets went. They spanked the same thing. Global brands were inspired by me.

– Have you made any claims to those who inspired you?

– What’s the point? It turns out that first my whole brain will be blown out, and then the whole world will wear it: my shoes, my makeup, hairstyles, jackets, hair color. At all the shows in Milan, Paris, London – all my looks are there.

– How did sanctions hit your business?

– The beauty salon I owned actually closed. Rent in Moscow is very expensive. To start a business, you need a lot of money. This is just unreal! Now, as far as I know, all my colleagues have this situation. Designers too. Many of them have closed their studios and are trying to sew at home. Looking at them, I understand that there is no need to open anything now. And most of my clients have moved abroad. And those who remained have nothing to do with it now. So I don’t do anything. It’s okay, it’s just the time. Some open, some close. Some are doing business, while others are not. This is not forever.

– Don’t you miss the romantic and hungry times of the 90s, during the time of your professional rise and the beginning of show business in Russia?

– Any fond memories? From the outside, this period looks wonderful. I remember that I just toiled then, seven days a week, hungry, cold, and worked three shifts. And everyone asked me, “Do you know that you are a star?” Maybe for some these were wonderful times, but what I remember is that I slept for two to four hours then. I didn’t have any vacations or weekends in the 90s.

– But do you find time to relax today?

– I now have some time to come to my senses, to put things in order. But I have such neighbors above my head that it is impossible to sleep with them. And I can’t do anything about them. The neighbors know that I am under them: they wake up early in the morning and deliberately mock me, the landlady above puts on high-heeled flip-flops and walks from corner to corner. Then I hear – I went out onto the balcony, slammed the door, smoked, threw the cigarette butt from the balcony, slammed the door again, came back, woke up the whole family and sent the children to school. After lunch, the bullying continues, the neighbors practice the piano, their children return home, start to rage, and so on all day long. I live in the center of Moscow and don’t allow myself to rehearse with musicians in my apartment, so I feel sorry for my neighbors. The whole house respects me, except for the upstairs neighbors.

– Do you communicate with your son?

“I have my own life, he has his own.” He is already 30 years old! If only I could help my father once, I just sent him a thousand rubles. He did not visit me even when I was admitted to the clinic with appendicitis. I started going on TV shows with stories about how my dad spends a lot of time fighting for the environment, but doesn’t even want to hear about his problems. He more than once took part in talk shows for a fee, where he spoke very impartially about me. He said that I left him without money, and even sued me.

I once suggested that my son get a job at a TV channel, but he preferred to start an independent life in Kolomna, where he worked as an administrator in a hotel and a DJ in a club. In 2015, he married waitress Maria. I didn’t come to his wedding because I didn’t believe in this marriage. And my prophecy came true, their union collapsed after a few months. His next passion was the provincial Julia. A thin anorexic girl with dirty hair, she is already many years old. Her eldest son was taken by her husband, and her youngest son was taken by her father. How could I bless them?

– How did your adventure with the elections to the State Duma from the Green Party end?

– I turned to different parties: “Should I or shouldn’t I go with the defense of Baikal?” And not a single party took a step towards me. Not one! Then I simply decided that the Green Party suited my profile better, and I came to their headquarters. They were already aware of my picket near the Kremlin walls. They treated me humanely and decided that I should go to Buryatia and be elected to the State Duma from this region.

– Why did you become a deputy at all?

– Our deputies have no media presence, 90% of voters don’t know them, it’s very difficult for them to achieve anything. Of course, it is much easier for a media person to knock on the door, ask, inspire, and gather people for help and support. I hoped it was time for creative, interesting people like me. Everyone knows me. If I contact you, people immediately pick you up, support you, come to the meeting and help you. Maybe I am the person who will bring much more benefit to the people.

– What exactly did you do in Buryatia?

– Attracted investors to Buryatia so that its residents would become richer, so that there would be work for everyone, including young people. I restored the church in my home village of Guzhiry. Helped the beautiful Tunkinskaya Valley, where there are healing thermal springs. I am for the environment, so that the water and forests are clean in Buryatia and at least give people a chance to breathe. There are a lot of problems here. Medicine is bad, doctors are evil, they kill dogs in Ulan-Ud. Low wages, unemployment. After the army, I also couldn’t get a job anywhere, no one would take me to a salon, it was very difficult to get through. I was unemployed for a long time. I understand this, I went through everything myself.

– How did those elections go?

– Colossal amounts of money have been spent: 78 million budget rubles were spent on billboards. These “faces” hung all over Ulan-Ude; the whole city was plastered with them. And the people hate them. The highest percentage of Covid cases was then in Buryatia. But the authorities were deciding other issues. I was on their agenda from morning to night. I had no financial support and not a single billboard, not a single photograph of me hung. Banned everywhere. At times I gave up. There was no support. The local press was intimidated – they couldn’t mention me.

– As a result, you lost the elections…

– According to preliminary results, I should have won the election. As a result, he received 8% of the votes. Third place is also a result; I was ahead of the LDPR candidates. In addition, I did not have support among those in power and had to promote my candidacy on my own. But while I was a candidate, I was able to make big steps in politics.

– For example?

“At that time, on the shores of Lake Baikal, a plant was being illegally built to bottle water to China, and I went with a picket to the Kremlin. I staged a single picket in defense of Lake Baikal in the center of Moscow. I was fined 15 thousand for it and registered with the police. But I attracted the attention of journalists to the problem. On live TV I said: “Dear respected president, help save Baikal!” t told a story about an illegal factory. The next morning the plant was stopped and closed.
