Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu proposed to audit the lands that the ministry transferred to the regional authorities and assess how effectively they are used. He stated this at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the implementation of the program for the development of Far Eastern cities.
“I would like it, probably, through Marat Shakirzyanovich (Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.— “Ъ”) a certain audit was carried out of what was transferred over these ten years and what was implemented as a result of this transfer,” said Mr. Shoigu.
Over the past ten years, according to Sergei Shoigu, the Ministry of Defense in Primorye alone has transferred 28 thousand hectares of land to local authorities.
Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said in response that an audit would be carried out. “To put it bluntly, not everything is used effectively. Therefore, we have prepared a set of measures. We believe that it is possible and necessary to transfer only with signed “road maps” for the development of these land plots. If we see a clear plan, then we hand over the land,” Mr. Khusnullin added.
Earlier, Kommersant learned that Major General Konstantin Ogienko was placed in a pre-trial detention center on charges of corruption. The investigation believes that the commander of the 4th Air Defense Division, Major General Dmitry Belyatsky, on behalf of Army Commander Ogienko, organized the receipt of a bribe for the allocation of defense lands to a civilian organization.
