Sculptor Rozhnikov for the first time showed a model of the monument to Inna Churikova at the Novodevichy cemetery

“She has become almost a close person for me.”
A little more than a month has passed since the death of the great and beautiful Inna Churikova, and the sketch of her monument at the Novodevichy Cemetery is already ready. Sculptor Alexander Rozhnikov, who owns a lifetime monument to the actress in her native village of Korenevo, Lyubertsy urban district, created a model of the now tombstone sculpture. While this is the first and only version of the monument, the family members of the actress and her colleagues have yet to get acquainted with it. We spoke with the famous sculptor about his work and how the idea to create such a monument was born.
– Alexander Alexandrovich, who is Inna Churikova for you, besides the fact that she is your countrywoman and a world-class actress?
– In the process of working on a sculptural composition dedicated to Gleb Panfilov’s film “The Beginning”, where Inna Mikhailovna Churikova played the main role, somehow imperceptibly she turned into a close person for me, completely earthly, bright, wise, very benevolent. She simply called me Sasha, and I was proud that I had received such an honor.
– With what feeling did you create the first monument, what did you want to convey in the image of a prima? And what accents are placed for the monument on Novodevichy?
– Creating a composition for the village of Korenevo, I understood perfectly well that this work in bronze is for centuries, and first of all it should have an educational and educational function. Imagine that the children living in Korenev now know that an ordinary little girl Inna Churikova ran here, breathed this air, who became a great actress, queen of the stage, prima of the famous Lenkom. The composition for the Novodevichy cemetery is a completely different message, it is a certain result of the earthly life of a mortal person. So, the result of the past life is stunning: from an ordinary girl to a world-class queen of the stage … Therefore, in the composition there is a planet hovering in the air, on which the theater stage descended, in its upper part turning into a visible image of the Queen of England – an image created by talent and genius great Russian actress Inna Churikova. This role is recognized as magnificent not only by us, but also by the British themselves, and for us, Russians, Inna Mikhailovna is the true queen of the stage. And one more small but important detail. At the bottom of the wings falls on a granite slab – this is an inextricable link with the native Russian land. With all the greatness and world recognition, Inna Mikhailovna is a great Russian actress who rested in her native Russian land.
“Each person has some kind of characteristic feature that I want to emphasize in sculpture. What did you highlight in your character?
– The most characteristic feature in the face of Inna Mikhailovna is wide-open eyes, bright and somehow childishly naive, and, of course, dimples on her cheeks when she laughs.
– I heard that Inna Mikhailovna dreamed about you after her death, and immediately after that the idea of the monument was born.
– At the beginning of the fourth week after Inna Mikhailovna left, I had a dream. She stood with her back to the window, flooded with light, and smiled …
