In the literal sense, thanks to yeast, human cells will grow when recovering from injuries thanks to a new method developed by scientists from the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology of Vyatka State University. They created a one-of-a-kind genetic construct with the inclusion of a human gene and added it to yeast for rapid growth.
As MK was informed at Vyatka State University, in the human body there is a molecule that is responsible for platelet growth factor. Such molecules accelerate the growth of fibroblasts and other building proteins that the body normally uses to “rebuild” damaged tissue. However, to accelerate healing, higher loading doses of such molecules are required. Based on this, scientists have already created drugs based on them.
The result of the work of the Kirov specialists differs from foreign analogues in a different genetic structure, which makes it possible to accelerate the production of a healing molecule and put its production on stream.
To reproduce the right amount of “growth factor”, the scientists placed the human gene responsible for the production of the appropriate molecules in the genome of the yeast species Pichia pastoris.
As a result, the same “growth factor” with a high level of purity and quality was isolated from yeast. Based on it, an experimental batch of gel was created, which, when spread on wounds, will contribute to their faster healing.
