How reports Insider News, scientists at Columbia University conducted a study to study the connection between heavy physical labor and the development of Alzheimer’s disease.
The publication clarifies that experts studied the performance of 7,005 people aged 33 to 65 years for several years and found that the risk of developing dementia was higher among those who were engaged in physically demanding work.
“This association may be due not only to the influence of physical activity on the development of dementia, but also to the fact that people choose manual labor occupations based on their mental abilities at an early age,” the scientists say.
According to them, those who had lower cognitive abilities may be limited in choosing professions that require a higher level of intelligence.
