How reports Scientific Reports magazine, Canadian scientists from Laval University have revealed a possible cause of accelerated skin aging.

Experts have found a connection between this negative process and a combination of exposure to smoking and sunlight.

Previously, scientists noted that both smoking itself and ultraviolet rays negatively affect the condition of the skin. However, these two factors in combination cause even more harm to the skin than individually.

“Cigarette smoke combined with ultraviolet rays causes collagen to shrink more quickly,” the magazine writes.
