Scientist Ken Farley took a “tour of Mars” using the Perseverance rover
Perseverance Rover project scientist Ken Farley used 993 images taken by the Perseverance rover to create a virtual tour of Mars.
Farley said the rover is working in a region of Mars that could preserve evidence of ancient microorganisms if they once inhabited the planet.
What makes Mars unique as a study site is that its surface “remembers” events that occurred in the first billion years of the solar system’s existence, Farley said. According to him, on Earth, ongoing geological activity prevents the preservation of such ancient information.
