Schwarzenegger auctioned off the watch that got him detained in Germany
Actor and former governor of the US state of California Arnold Schwarzenegger auctioned off a watch that got him detained by German customs in Munich. As the Presse newspaper clarifies, he gave the accessory for 270 thousand euros.
It is reported that the charity auction took place on the evening of January 18 in Austria. The starting price of the watch from the Swiss brand was 50 thousand euros – it was custom-made specifically for the actor. It is planned that all proceeds will go to finance environmental projects of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative.
Let’s remember that the reason for Schwarzenegger’s arrest was lack of declaration for a watch worth 26 thousand euros. It was reported that he planned to auction the accessory for charity and suggested that this would allow him to transport them without bureaucratic procedures. As a result, the actor and ex-governor of California was detained for several hours.
He was given a fine of 5 thousand euros and a tax of 4 thousand euros.
