Schoolchildren from a village near Kurgan, where a wolf attacked people, have had their online education extended

Distance learning in educational institutions of the Petukhovsky municipal district of the Kurgan region, where a wolf attacked four people, has been extended until January 27. Public events have also been cancelled. This was announced by the head of the district, Anton Volkov.

“As part of additional measures to ensure security, by decision of the operational headquarters of the Petukhovsky Municipal District, a decision was made to extend the validity of the distance learning format in all educational organizations of the district until January 27, 2024 inclusive. Also, by decision of the operational headquarters, all cultural events were temporarily canceled,” wrote Anton Volkov in Telegram.

The head of the district also asked residents to observe safety measures and not leave children and elderly relatives unattended. Employees of the region’s hunting management department, hunters and law enforcement officers continue to patrol.

On the night of January 23, in the village of Lake Medvezhye Resort, Kurgan Region came in wolf. He attacked four residents, one woman died from her wounds. The wolf was killed. Distance learning in schools in the district was introduced until January 24.

Acting head of the hunting department of the Kurgan region Alexey Epanchintsev said that there had been no previous cases of attacks by wolves or other wild animals on people in the Kurgan region. According to him, the wolf came to the district for roe deer migrating from Kazakhstan.
