School 21 programming school opened its doors in Uzbekistan

According to the press service, the campus opened in Samarkand. The school gives students over 18 years of age the opportunity to study for free for a profession in the field of information technology.

212 people are already passing the qualifying intensive in Samarkand. The average age of participants is 22 years old, the oldest is 51 years old. Participants come from a variety of backgrounds, from technical to sales.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and the President and Chairman of the Board of Sberbank German Gref got acquainted with the new campus. They discussed the effectiveness of training specialists for the development of the republic’s economy and talked with the participants.

Qualified IT specialists are the most important priority for the development of digital technologies within the framework of the “Digital Uzbekistan 2030” Strategy. Large international companies operate in the IT segment of Uzbekistan, which is experiencing rapid growth, and promising projects are being launched, which often find support from the state.

The press service noted that School 21 will help the country resolve the issue of qualified specialists in the field of high technology. Much attention in training is paid to practical tasks, mastering programming skills, as well as developing soft skills.

“Today is not just the opening of a new campus in the city of Samarkand, it is a very important milestone. And I want to say a huge thank you to those people, thanks to whose decisions the project took place. To the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who has a vision far beyond 2030 – he sees the country at least until the end of this century. And this allows us to make strategic decisions for the development of the country. I would like to thank the Chairman of the Government of Uzbekistan, who was personally involved in this. Abdulla Nigmatovich is a digital person, so it’s very easy to talk to him, and it was thanks to him that today’s opening of the School in Samarkand took place,” noted German Gref.

The school uses a peer-to-peer educational methodology, and one of the stages of training is a mandatory three-month internship. By the start of the internship, participants are proficient in at least three programming languages. Students also become familiar with SQL, learn to work with databases and have skills in DevOps, engineering, operating systems and networks. Education at the school takes place on a digital educational platform with developing content focused on the current market.
