The Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry told the Swedish Ambassador about the categorical rejection of the act of burning the Koran
The Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry summoned the Swedish Ambassador in connection with the Koran burning event in Stockholm, reported department’s public relations service.
The diplomatic mission informed the Swedish ambassador of the categorical rejection of the act of burning the Koran. They called on Stockholm to stop all actions “directly contrary to international efforts aimed at spreading the values of tolerance, moderation and rejection of extremism.”
On June 28, Stockholm law enforcement authorities allowed a demonstration with the burning of the Koran near the mosque.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the decision legal but inappropriate.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also commented on the action of burning the Koran in the Swedish capital. “Peter the Great is not enough for them,” the head of the Russian state reacted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation warned of the catastrophic consequences of burning the Koran with impunity.
