Elections in the LPR will be held on September 8-10. About it reported Elena Kravchenko, chairperson of the LPR election commission, in an interview with the Luhansk Information Center.

“Based on the decision of the Electoral Commission of the LPR of June 21, 2023, voting in the elections of deputies of the People’s Council of the LPR of the first convocation, as well as the elections of deputies of representative bodies of municipalities of the first convocation, scheduled for September 10, 2023, will be held for several days in a row – 8 , September 9 and 10, 2023. 461 polling stations were formed on the territory of the Republic,” she said.

Kravchenko clarified that, in addition to polling stations, residents of the LPR will be able to vote in adjacent territories, as well as in squares, parks, etc. Also, the opportunity to cast their vote will be provided for groups of voters who live in territories where there are no voting premises and transport links with which it is difficult.

The chairman of the election commission of the LPR noted that the elections will also be held “in the front-line territories.” There they will be organized “using all forms of voting”, including the option outside the polling station.

This year, the unified voting day in Russia will be held on September 10th. On September 30, 2022, according to the results of referendums, the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions became part of Russia. Since October last year, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, martial law has been introduced in the regions.

At the end of May, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that excludes the ban on holding referendums and elections to government bodies in those regions where martial law is in effect. According to the adopted document, the head of such a subject can send an application to the CEC for the purpose of holding elections or a referendum. The CEC is obliged to consider the application within five days and consult with the FSB and the Ministry of Defense.
