Newspaper “Kommersant” reports that in Russia the demand for passenger cars continues to be high, despite the growth in their cost. According to the publication, in August of this year, 107,000 cars can be sold on the Russian automotive market, and this figure is only 10,000 lower than in August of the pre-crisis 2021.
As noted in the newspaper, in the last summer week of this year, Russians purchased 23.8 thousand passenger cars, which is 6% more than the week before.
At the same time, Kommersant pointed out that at the beginning of the month, demand for cars grew amid expectations of higher prices due to the weakening of the ruble and an increase in the recycling fee. Then, according to the publication, dealers sold 28.9 thousand cars, after which sales declined, but they still remained higher than last year.
