President Vladimir Putin heard reports by telephone from the head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, and the governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov, after a power supply disruption in these regions. This was announced by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov. The President instructed the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Rosseti company to take all measures to provide energy to the regions.
“Vladimir Putin listened by telephone to the report of the head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, about a rather sharp temperature change from plus to minus, which led to a disruption in power supply and the breakdown of electrical wires,” said the press secretary (quoted by Interfax).
After a conversation with the president, Vladimir Saldo said that electricity supply in the Kherson region would be resumed on January 9. “We expect that some consumers will receive electricity before the end of the current day. It is planned to fully restore power supply to the region tomorrow,” he said.
Earlier today Vladimir Saldo reported, that “a significant part” of the territory of the Kherson region was cut off due to an accident in the power grid. Before this, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, Alexander Prokudin, appointed by the Ukrainian authorities, spoke about damage to a “critical infrastructure facility” in Kherson.
On January 4, due to an accident in the boiler room of the Klimovsky specialized cartridge plant in the Moscow region, there was no heating remained 170 apartment buildings. As of January 7, residents of 44 houses were still without heat.
