Sakhalin Sharks snatched victory from HC SKA-Karelia

The Sakhalin Sharks team scored five goals against HC SKA-Karelia and won. It was the second meeting of rivals in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the press service of the island hockey club reported.

The first period ended with the score 0:0. However, in the second, the opponents made two successful attacks and scored two goals against the Sakhalin team.

After the break, the Sharks became more aggressive. As a result, Timofey Barsukov intercepted the puck in a foreign zone and threw it from the corner into the “house” of goalkeeper Denis Kruglov. But SKA-Karelia also scored a goal – a long lacy attack of the guests ended with Vladimir Kovalchuk’s double.

Further, the Sakhalin people were helped by the majority. Ruslan Tyutyunnikov got the puck in front of the goal and outplayed the opponents’ goalkeeper in close combat. And after 43 seconds, the Sharks found another scoring opportunity – Timofey Barsukov threw on goal, and Alexander Fesenko brought the puck flying off the goalkeeper into the net. The score became equal – 3:3.

In the remaining ten minutes of the game, the first three “Sharks” successfully played. Timofey Barsukov intercepted the puck and gave a brilliant pass to Anton Danilov, who converted his moment. This goal was decisive in the game.

SKA-Karelia went for the final assault, but the Sakhalin Sharks held the advantage and after several attempts they still achieved the desired goal into an empty net – Alexander Morozov scored his 33rd goal of the season, putting an end to the match. The final score is 5:3.

Now the Sakhalin Sharks will play three away matches against the Moscow teams of the Golden Division. February 11 – game with “Wings of the Soviets”, February 13 – with the MHC “Dynamo” Moscow, February 16 – with the “Red Army”.
