The Sakhalin basketball team reached the playoffs of the finals of the Far Eastern Federal District IES-BASKET championship. The regional Ministry of Sports spoke about this.
The final of the Far Eastern Federal District championship in IES-BASKET is taking place in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Basketball players play at the Vostok training center.
“Twenty teams of boys and girls born in 2006-2011 from the Khabarovsk, Kamchatka, Transbaikal and Primorsky territories, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Buryatia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Magadan, Amur, Jewish Autonomous and Sakhalin regions are taking part in the competition,” noted at the ministry.
The Sakhalin team won the group stage, easily beating their opponents. First they played with Primorsky athletes, the match ended with a score of 86:51. In the second round, the Sakhalin team defeated the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) with a score of 83:18. Now the islanders will meet Khabarovsk basketball players in the quarter finals.
