Saakashvili lost weight from 120 to 67 kg – brother

Ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, while in prison, lost weight from 120 to 67 kg, his brother David said.

According to him, Mikhail entered the prison building in 2021 “a healthy charismatic person, 120 kg of weight”, of which 67 kg remained.

“A year later, we see a sick person with many terrible diagnoses,” he said, noting that Saakashvili’s tests were also studied in Europe.

“Mikhail has very bad blood, judging by the expert opinions, there is a high probability that he was poisoned,” he said, noting that “there is a high probability of losing Misha.”

The brother of the ex-president of Georgia says that if Saakashvili is not sent abroad for treatment, he may die. Earlier, the European Parliament adopted a resolution to transfer him to a European or American specialized clinic.

“The Georgian people and country are going through the circle of past tragedies. We are all guilty of killing the first president (Zviad Gamsakhurdia – Ed.), and now we can kill the third president of Georgia, and my brother,” David Saakashvili said.

Saakashvili is accused in his homeland of illegally crossing the border. In addition, in 2018, he was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison for exceeding his official powers in the case of an attack on Georgian parliamentarian Valery Gelashvili. He was also suspected of involvement in the death of the country’s Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania, embezzlement of public funds and some other crimes.

Recall that in November, the head of the non-governmental organization “Empathy” Mariam Jishkariani said that Saakashvili was most likely poisoned. According to the study, the level of mercury in the body of the ex-president exceeds the permissible limits by 42%. There is also intoxication with other metals. Jishkariani noted that in order to save Saakashvili’s life, he should be released for medical treatment abroad. The Georgian authorities declared the diagnoses unreliable and denied claims that Saakashvili was tortured, which caused him to develop illnesses. The lawyer of the ex-president Shalva Khachapuridze said that his client had atrophied muscles of his left hand. The lawyer also did not rule out that the disgraced politician may have more than 30 different diagnoses confirmed, including dementia and tuberculosis.
