Peskov announced the proper level of protection for Putin during his message

Russian President Vladimir Putin will be adequately protected from viruses during his address to the Federal Assembly on February 21, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

At the briefing, journalists asked Peskov how protected the president would be during his address to the Federal Assembly, noting that about 20 State Duma deputies were on sick leave.

“He [Путин] will be adequately protected. People get sick – you need to stay at home, get sick – this is completely normal. Of course, it is much worse to come sick and infect someone. Everyone here must observe such independent responsibility, a sense of responsibility for their own health and for the health of their colleagues, ”the Kremlin spokesman said.

According to him, the necessary sanitary and epidemiological safety measures are being taken.

Formerly State Duma Deputy (KPRF) Denis Parfyonov informedthat parliamentarians were notified of the need to be tested for COVID-19 in anticipation of the President’s message to the Federal Assembly.

The fact that the participants in the meeting with the president must undergo quarantine was reported in the media back in 2020. In particular, the Proekt publication (the publication was recognized as “undesirable” in Russia) in September claimed that the Kremlin had introduced a two-week isolation for everyone who meet with the president. Peskov then declaredthat not everyone goes through quarantine, and it depends “on the situation and the person.”

The President will announce the message to the Federal Assembly on February 21. This date was announced on February 10th. According to Peskov, the head of state will focus on the “current situation.” The last time Putin sent a message to the Federal Assembly took place on April 21, 2021. Last year, despite preparations for the message, it was canceled due to the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and the start of a military operation in Ukraine.

Peskov also pointed outthat the hour set by the federal TV channels for broadcasting the president’s message is a formality. Earlier it became known that federal channels, in particular Channel One, Rossiya 1, NTV, will broadcast Putin’s message to the Federal Assembly on February 21 at 12:00 Moscow time. It followed from their TV programs. An hour is set for the message – from 12:00 to 13:00 Moscow time. After that, the following programs will begin on TV channels.
